Donations and Bequests

The International Headquarters of the Theosophical Society has been situated at Adyar, Chennai (formerly Madras), India, since 1882. Throughout this period, various activities have been carried out here which support the Society’s Objects and also help alleviate the suffering of the poor, as well as animals.

Donations and bequests for the enhancement of our various activities are welcomed. The Theosophical Society has a number of Endowment Funds and only the interest from these Funds is used for the work carried out by the International Headquarters.   Some of the Endowment Funds to which donations may be given include:

• Adyar Besant Commemorative Fund (ABC Fund)
• Adyar Library Endowment Fund
• Animal Welfare Endowment Fund
• Education Endowment Fund
• Garden Development Endowment Fund
• HPB Hostel Endowment Fund
• Theosophical Propagation in India Endowment Fund
• School of Wisdom Endowment Fund
• Social Welfare Endowment Fund

For each Endowment Fund there is a related Fund, e.g. for the Education Endowment Fund there is an Education Fund.

Some additional Funds include:

• Adyar Estate Improvement Fund
• President’s Discretionary  Fund

Donations to non-Endowment Funds are used only for the specific purpose concerned.

Also, General Donations can be made which may be used for any purpose.

Members of the Theosophical Society, and sympathizers who are interested in giving financial support to our work, are requested to contact the Honorary Treasurer for any further questions or clarification, and in order to obtain details about acceptable forms of payment.
