Transcripts
Adyar Library and Research Centre houses Manuscripts of type 'Transcript'. These are replicas of original made before the original degraded/destroyed/lost.
Collection consists of nearly 1300 'books' of such manuscripts. Each book contains one or more leaves (pages).
Catalog of such books is in paper registers. Digitization of paper register is work-in-progress.
Digitization of 'books' have started with digital camera. One book is selected, and all it's leaves are photographed. One leaf produces one image file.

Paper Manuscripts
Adyar Library and Research Centre houses Manuscripts of type 'Paper Manuscript'. These are originals written on paper, not on palm-leaf.
Collection consists of over 3000 'books' of such manuscripts. Each book contains one or more leaves (pages). Each 'book' is called a 'bundle'.
Catalog of such 'books' is in paper registers. Digitization of paper register is work-in-progress.
Digitization of 'books' have started with table-top flatbed scanner connected to a desktop. One 'book' is selected, and all it's leaves are scanned one after another. One leaf produces one image file.

Palm Leaf Manuscripts
Adyar Library and Research Centre houses Manuscripts of type 'Palm Leaf'. These are original, written on Palm Leaf.
Collection consists of nearly 2500 'books' of such manuscripts. Each 'book' contains one or more leaves (pages). 'book' is also called 'bundles'.
Catalog of such 'books' is in paper registers. Digitization of paper register is work-in-progress.
Digitization of 'books' have started with digital camera. One 'book is selected', and all it's leaves are photographed. One leaf produces more than one image file.
