INTRODUCTION
Exploring the Philosophy & Spiritual Advanced Practices of the main Traditions/Religions provides methodologies and tools to guide the student on the path of Self-Transformation. On the other hand, practicing the core of these Traditions is key to a real transformation, a knowledge acquisition by identity. This SOW proposes a two-step approach:
To review the mystic aspects of Eastern and Western Inner Traditions –Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Christianism, Islam and Theosophy, and to develop some practice sessions to experiment the approach of mysticism.
First week
1. Eastern Traditions
1.1 Hinduism (2 days):
- Samkhya & Raja Yoga (Patanjali Aphorisms)
- Advaita Vedanta (Subba Row & Viveka-Shuda-Mani)
- The Life Divine & Integral Yoga (Sri Aurobindo)
1.2 Tibetan Buddhism (2 days):
- Shi-ne / La-tong (Tsong-Kappa)
- Lojong / Tonglen (Atisha)
- Trek-Cheu / Togyal (Longchenpa, A-Khrid Tradition)
1.3 Taoism (1 day):
- Tao Te Ching (Lao-Tseu)
- Hua Hu Ching (Lao-Tseu)
- Yi-Ching
Second Week
2. Western Traditions
2.1 Christian Tradition (2 days):
- Master Eckhart (Homilies & Treaty)
- St John of the Cross (Ascent of Mt Carmel)
- Philocalia (The Prayer of the Heart)
2.2 Islam Tradition (1 day):
- Sufis (Ibn Arabi, Attar, Rumi)
3. Theosophy (2 days):
- The Golden Steps
- At the Feet of the Master
- The Light on the Path
- The Voice of Silence
FACILITATOR
Jacques Mahnich joined the French T.S. in 1978, and has been actively studying Theosophy and
the main Traditions of the world. He is a recognized international lecturer. He has directed a School
of the Wisdom in Adyar, and Schools of Theosophy and lectures in many places worldwide.
